I've been reading the thread on grenades in the explosive section, and came up with a couple simple ideas that will work, and will store well (minus the blasting cap and booster.) Let me know what you guys think. Both should work, but the seccond is a little more simple. Both are mounted onto pipe caps for the 'improvised grenade' pictured in the first. Forgive the quality. There's a problem with the design. You have to mount the detonator centered in the grenade body, otherwise you won't be able to put in or remove the fuse without stirring up the explosive, If your able to remove/insert it at all. You'd have to mount the detonator in first before filling the grenade with the explosive. I would suggest mounting the pivot point on the edge of the pipe cap with the percussion cap nipple in the center. The spring can be a mousetrap type spring. And where the lever would hit the percussion cap, I think it would work better if the hammer was bent away, and not towards, the cap. This would allow the handle more room to gain momentum before hitting the cap. ------------------ Search the archive before you ask. http://members.xoom.com/forumlibrary |

The fuse is run in a line under the edge of the pipe cap straight down to the blasting cap. The blasting cap is located directly in the center. (The pipe cap in the second diagram is actually the nipple on the first.) This means to me that the cap will be centered in the grenade so that it can be put in and taken out easily. |
