Here you go: __________________________________________ AK-47: Semi-Auto to Full-Auto Conversion CYB0RG/ASM Semi-automatic AK-47's were available for purchase in Canada with So, for those of you who still possess one of these fun assault rifles,
1 AK-47
Stages of action in a semi-automatic AK-47: 1. Cock the rifle - The trigger Sear (the sear is the "catch") 2. Pull the trigger - The bolt is released causing the firing pin 3. Piston comes back - Due to the pressure of the shells powder 4. Missing the trigger sear - If you are still holding the 5. Release the trigger - The trigger mechanism causes the second 6. Now the process repeats at stage 2. That's semi-automatic. Hmmm, if that second sear wasn't there
(It is obviously illegal to modify an AK-47 in this way. Don't!) Remove the magazine from the receiver. Remove the Receiver Cover by Using the twist-tie, tie the second Sear back to the pin that runs Now reassemble the weapon. Slide the Piston and Bolt-Carrier back
I can tell you that not all ammunition will work with an AK-47 in _________________________________ Copyrifle (c) 1999 CYB0RG/ASM |

I hate to rain on a parade, but.. The AK-47 does not fire from the open bolt (held back by a large protruding sear) as this post suggests. The AKS (and AK-47) fire from a closed and locked bolt (they're gas operated), and they are fired by a hammer striking a firing pin, they are *not* a fixed firing pin weapon. The only military weapon I know of which still fires from an open bolt with a fixed firing pin is the IMI Uzi. The real process of the AKS/AK-47's firing process is as thus: 1: as the bolt travels forward (after being released the first time by the operator), the bolt carrier strips a round from the magazine and carries it forward into the chamber. If you want to convert your AKS to an AK-47, your best bet would be to try to file down on the sear. (If anyone has any ideas how to get an autosear (like the one in the M16A1/2/3/4) working in an AK-47, I'm all ears.) THere are other ways, of course, this is simply the easiest one. ------------------ |
