I thought this up after a high school in my area got metal detectors.
Here goes:
Cut a section of 1 1/4" PVC pipe 2" long.

Then with the section standing verticle make a cut straight through from top to bottom.

Now put the section into a measuring cup, and cover it with water. Now put the cup in a microwave for a few minutes, until the water starts to boil.
(The next step needs to be done fairly quickly) Pour out the water and take your section of PVC and unroll it, so it's flat. Now run your flat piece of PVC under cold water.
Now all thats left to do is grind, saw or file out the shape of the knife.

I realize that it would be eaiser to just use a sheet of plexi glass or other stiff plastic, "But necessity is the mother of invention."

You could also just buy one of those "CIA letter openers" or some stupid plastic knife thingy from delta press (they call it the delta dart) but you're lucky if you could even stab someone with it. A German magazine did an article on nonmetallic knives. The only ones that resemble metall ones are ceramic knives you can buy in some kitchen stores. But they are so brittle that they'll shatter if you drop 'em.

how to make an improvised plastic knife?

take a toothbrush handle and wrap it in some cling film (food wrapping film). 3 layers of film would be fine.

heat the handle over a mild flame (sterno flame is fine) until the 3 layer of plastic film have BURNT on the surface. immediately quench the heated part in water.

the plastic that you'll obtain would be a tough and hard one. then you can easily sharpen one end to make it sharp. this improvised knife is only good for stabbing.

BTW, if you have access to a piece of POLYCARBONATE, you can make a plastic knife with it. this plastic is hard to get, it is very tough and will not break. it is used to make police protecting shield, safety equipment and bullet proof glass.

An easier tooth brush knife was developed (correct me if I'm wrong) in prisons. The head of the tooth brush was rubbed against a bare concrete surface untill a point was achieved.

In some prisons you get a toothbrush cut down to a 2" handle.

You can soften the handle with boiling water or flame and press it to make it a little flatter to make a blade. While the plastic is soft you can embed the blades from shaving razors in the plastic to get an edge. Or file it down.

I have a video on prison violence and prison wepons, "shanks" as there known.

Most are simply plexiglass shaped like an arrowhead. However, one man, a true genious, developed his "Prison Blowgun". He rolled the tube from writing paper, and made the dart from a plastic spoon and underwear elastic. It flew for at least 50 ft.

Some are sharpened toothbrushes. However, on this video, you see to men corner an african american, the cops are behind the sealed off plexiglass doors and cannot go in until they "Assess" the situation. No one else is in there. Somehow they have a foot long steel spike. They stab the man to death. Ten minutes later the cops go in and use stingball grenades to subdue them.

Another CCTV footage shows two men beat another man using weight lifting bars.

CDs are made of polycarbonate, so if you melt some together...

I think you wouldn't be able to reliabely stab someone with a ceramic knife, hit a bone and it breaks.

cd's are not made of poly carbonate. it is made with some sort of acrylic. anyway, polycarbonate is a polymer of acrylic. i have the tensile strength. it's about 75N/cm square (if i still remember)

forgot: some spectacles glasses and some proctective goggles are made of polycarbonate. there is also machine guards which is made from this material.

when the a riot cop tell you that he is safe under his shield, i doubt it. when acetone is thrown on polycarbonate, a impact will break it like glass!

Polycarbonate is easy as hell to find. Hardware stores sell stuff called LEXAN, that's just brand name polycarbonate.
