I found a site that has files on the process used to make useful acids and AN plus others. http://www.efma.org/publications/index.asp it's actually a fertilizer site and the methods are complicated but maybe they can be used.

The procedures are industrial and need temperatures and pressures you would never be able to achive.

They are industrial but I think some of them could be done with some hard work

regarding this site... if you were to blow through the skin of a tank car it would kinda go boom wouldn't it. it is rather hard to believe they actually transport that much nitric acid all together in tank cars. i suppose if it's 'safe' though... why not.
