Are platinum fusion crusables made entirely of platinum or are the only couted with platinum. How can i test whether something is platinum? What other metals are used to make fusion crusables? I bought old crusables and was wondering if i could disolfe it in aquaregia and plate on to something to make electrodes for chlorate and perchlorate production.

That platinum crucibles that I have seen are pure platinum metal, very much reflected in their price. Considering the applications for them, nothing else will do. ------------------ |

Say if put one in boiling hot concentrated HNO3 and nothing happens can i a sume that it is pure platinum, or at least an inert inouth metal so that it can be used to make electrodes??? |

Somewhat you could assume that because pure platinum is not attacked by hydrofluoric acid, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, dilute sulfuric acid, but it dissolves in aqua regia to form choloroplatinic (platinchloric) acid (H2PtCl6). |

Why not just purchase some platinum electrodes from a chemical supplier... |

The reason why i dont buy electodes is because it to expensive. You would piss your pants if you hear what i have payed for the crusables. I boudht them at a place called YSKOR, there labs are clossing and they trie to sell all the old stuff. I payed 2 rand for one cruisable. Devide 2 by six point something to get the amount in dollar. ( Few american cents) The people who sold it dont have a qlue what the crusables are and what they are made of. The poor fuckind idiots. |
