Just a little note on how to get a rirle (FAC) liscence overnight. I have a friend who lives in England and he told me this.''Joining a club (rifle) works well, but to get it overnight, get written permission from a friend of you family who lives on a farm or such and has over 1 mile square of land, saying that you have FULL permission to hunt (for pest control) on his land. That way you get a rifle liscence overnight even if you live in an apartment.'' Enjoy ------------------ Whoa, where my fingers?

hmm, you also need to get your place checked out by the cops, and need to have a secure gun case, and you need to have been at a club for about 3 months. Sorry, but you friend was a bit wrong. Well, you don't NEED to have been at a club for 3 months, but it'd help a hell of a lot------------------ Life is like a firework, one time it can look great, the next it can blow up in your face

Yeah, and its even easier to get a sshotgun licence, as it is "our legal right" to have one------------------ Life is like a firework, one time it can look great, the next it can blow up in your face

Thought for a FAC you needed to go through 2 weeks intensive training to understand how to use a gun... not that most people on these boards need to learn anyway

Some of what you said is true, but I'm talking about england, where gun laws are much stricter. True, it is easier to get a shotgun licence, but you still need land unless you follow what I said in the first post. You do not need 2 week training for an FAC (fire - arms certificate). Also, if you want just to be able to buy blackpowder or Pyrodex (not NC etc), then apply for a BP Pistol/Musket liscence, they are about as easy as shotgun licences. Hope this info helps any other un-armed people.

Yeah.... I happen to live in Britain too... and the law clearly states anyone in the process of being granted a FAC must take a mandatory 2 week firearms instruction course. No ifs or buts about it, it is mandatory, and it diesn't matter if you own a piece of land or not, even farmers need to take this 2 week course. You can't just apply for and get a licence, procedures have to be followed, whether you think you can work around it or not.

Whatever, Your probably right, but i've never heard of any law like that but I don't live in England anymore (up to three weeks ago i did), I live in Florida now so it does not really affect me. However, about procedures. If you apply for a rifle licence without any land to hunt on, no club membership etc You are 100% guarenteed not to get your licence, mainly due to the strong atmosphere about guns in England since the Dunblane Shooting. But the tips my friend gave give you a much better chance at getting one. Anyway, You are probably right about the 2 week training course, sounds like some B.S. law that was made in 98'. Thanks for pointing out the tips, I hope that all this info should help other people to get hold of guns. ----------------- Whoa, where my fingers?

Sounds pretty cool. Here in Canada: at least 6 monthes from wanting to own a gun to really own a gun, no handgun hunting permitted so people must join a handgun club to buy one.Compare to the US, Canada does't permit concealed handgun carrying, less than a dozen of people own the privilege.

Eventhough you can legally buy guns here, checks are made and the gun is tagged to you (if you buy legitamaly. I have six guns 3 shotguns, 2 rifles and a handgun- none of them are registered in my name) Only parts of the USA allow concealed carry. Even the parts that do have limitations on how long and/or when you can carry. NYC is an example of these laws. To be able to use you guns you have to go through a training course here too. I think this varies state to state, but here I had to go to 'clases' for two weeks. Of course England is still tighter about their gun laws than than the USA, but there are more similarities than first appear.------------------ Be armed at all times, a little paranoia never hurt anyone.
