Research still continues... Good news:

Good news, I got the 555 circuit running a long time ago, it was a 100k resistor mixed up with the 100ohm resistors in my box. I still am going to tweak the circuit to lower the frequency so that I can get a longer spark and higher voltage. More on that when it is done.

PVC pipe jumps from 2" to 3" sizes, so no 2.5" pipe to house the car coils in. I say coils because I use 2, that gets me a nice long spark. I am now using 12v 6 & 7 amp fire alarm system rechargeble batteries to test the system to save 9volts. 1 9v should last a long time unless you run the stun gun for minutes on end, which means you probably aren't shocking the person that bad. Rechargeble 9v are another option if you like to stare at the sparks for long periods of time Back to the size, 3" PVC pipe will have to be used to house this current system, or you can use much, much, much, smaller PVC pipe with the info in the next paragraph. I am thinking about using the 2 coils I have and making a jacobs ladder and using the next method for the stun gun.

Want smaller coils? They are avalible. I don't have the exact dimensions but they are much smaller in diameter and about 1 foot long but I belive that can be shortened. New standard car ignition coils cost about $20 USD, but can be obtained free or for a few dollars at a salvage yard (when my project is built I will have info on obtaining parts like this along with all my experinces). Cars made I think about 10 years ago like V-6 computer controlled firing have a coil for each spark plug instead of 1 main coil. These are smaller since they aren't being fired as often like the large oil filled ones do. So if you know someone who totaled their car and it has these, nab them, a v-6 will have 6 coils, enough to make 3 stun guns with. Removal is even more easy, just unclip the wires, unscrew the coil and pull it out. They are mounted in the engine and the spark plugs are underneath the coils.

I have not priced them at a salvage yard yet, I am waiting to see if my friend's brother's car is a v-6 with these or not first. I will find out eventually anyway for my report(webpage) on this. I could also drive back to this town to look through the old abbandoned cars to see if anyone of them has them.

Soon, they project will be completed... Soon

I tried to go to page number three on her...said file not found--do you have your ultimate board limited to topic length?
A few questions:
1)why build a stun gun when commercial ones
are so cheap?
more power?
smaller size?
or just the challenge?
2)Also, what is the maximum voltage as per amperage that can kill...(to be safe with one) I bought a 300,000 volt small one but they had 400,000 ones that were huge.
I assume the high voltage is for the ability of the spark to jump to the assalant (sp?)
or thru clothing, etc.
But, at what point does the voltage become lethal or what amperage msut it have in conjunction with voltage....ie: welders have
high amps but only shock you (low voltage)
But, i was taught a very low votage/amperage could kill..
One reason I ask is I may be purchasing a new shop and parking are that is fenced in and will be razorwired etc but still the area is
going to the 'dogs (no offense to dogs)....thus my abilty to buy the place cheap for storage and shop area...
I was thinking of a couple wires at the top or just inside the top of the fence with a voltage that would stop an intruder but I
was unsure of what voltage and amperage would be safe yet EFFECTIVE..
I was thinking of maybe modifying a cheap
cattle fence 'charger or an oil burner
transformer but I was told it (oil unit) could kill...
where can one draw the line and still have effective ness...there are crazy people out there who will break into any place and with a high fence and razor wireit only makes them
want to get into it more even if it is only storage and (high priced) shop tools they could not carry off and sell easily..they would just try to damage eveything out of spite from not finding any easyto sell shit...
my bud had a harley mod shop and they got in..thru the roof and just f'ed everything up..forget the police or alarms..till they get there it's been done and the culprits are gone....

oh, another question...in my new stun gun (I removed the unglued switch ) and saw two pieces of metal diagonal on topr of each other and not touching... where an arc jumped when the swithc was pushed...what is the purpose of this ...to make the power surge intermittant so the transformers work like ac? if I move them appart it pulses slower and closer faster but would further part be a stronger jolt--or not...a tricky way to get simulated ac I guess or what???
thanks
