This is most likely a very stupid suggestion but, how about marking the tip of your weapons with bright orange paint to make whatever law enforcement officer you might encounter during a crime think twice or simply hesitate about shooting you. By then its too late when you've unloaded 5 rounds in his carcass. If you get caught I have no clue what the added penalties will be if any. |

Cops blow away little kids with super soakers. A little orange paint won't make much difference I think. They're trained to kill automatically on the sight of anything gun shaped. ------------------ |

I read this on the web somewhere. This cop was in a gun shop, off duty but carrying his wepon. The Gun shop clerk dropped a gun, cocked, which went off. Luckly only a .22 so not much damage was done. But before the clerk had time to realise what had happened, the cop had his gun out. Which shows that cops instantly reach for their guns when they "feel threatened". Cops have also blown away kids playing lazer tag in the park. ------------------ |

It couldn't hurt any. If the cop hesitates even a moment, that would be enough of an advantage to get the better of him. ------------------ |

A little bit of paint wouldn't stop a cop from blowing a person away. At that rate a person should paint the entire gun day-glo orange and green. That would be even better, but the problem is that a bright painted gun is easily seen in the dark. Since the most likely situation for use of a gun against a cop is at night, a bright gun is not a good idea. The only way I could see a person getting away with a painted gun would be if it had its shape changed with putty to a more rounded, toy like shape. Something like a supersoaker. And if it was a child holding it in broad daylight. Children would make good cop killers since cops aren't expecting to be shot at by a kid and he would likely hesitate before blowing a kid away. There's hundreds of thousands of children fighting in wars around the world, raping and killing, so children are quite capable of the act. And what I especially like about the idea is the irony of cops killing kids. After all, the government and police are always saying they're doing whatever "for the children". Even though the cops would be legally justified in killing the kid in self-defense, the public doesn't see it that way. ------------------ |

what VeHeMT was talking about was that most toy guns have a orange cap on the end. if you could tale a cap off one and put on a real gun that might be better. it might mess up velocity and accuracy a little but if the cop sees the hole in the barell u r screwed. this would work best with a pistol. also paint the gun like a crummy color that gets rid of the metalic color. also you could get plastic grips. exc exc exc P.S. my, i have been posting alot today ------------------ [This message has been edited by PyroTechnic (edited May 03, 2000).] |

Right now I'm working on a coil gun using the plastic shell from a super soaker. It would not be hard at all to modify a super soaker into a silenced firearm. Leaving only the required cosmetic parts, pump handle detached from piston glued onto shell, but with entire pump assembly removed. Tanks kept etc... The problem is finding a super soaker with a big enough area near the nozzle/front to house the silencer. You could either have it shoot from the area where the nozzle is or through the pump handle. Firearm could be improvised or a small handgun. |

Then I guess the best thing to do is carry your gun in a paper bag or rolled up magazine. You could have the paper wrapped up in such a way as to hold the gun on the inside without letting it flap open. I believe there is even a silincer in the PMJB that uses a box the you stick you hand in to look oridinary. ------------------ |

Why bother painting it, didn't you hear what happened in Australia, the cops were ready for a domestic, meaning anything could have been happening in the house they were called out to and 3 of the 4 got drilled, their all still alive and recovering but hey goes to show how stupid cops really are Vehemet, I too am interested in the Coil Gun Plans, keep up the work on them =) |

I will post plans, I might be able to get a picture of it since a friend of a friend of mine has a digital camera. Right now the development of the coil gun is going slowly since I'm broke. Bought too much computer hardware recently (wait, you can never have too much computer hardware, what am I saying). |

The soft air guns are very realistic, and you must almost have them in hand to tell they are not real. View them on web pages if not familiar with them. they have orange tips to comply with dot shipping regs in USA. The tips can be painted black, or sawed off. Then the thing is good for everything a real gun is good for, except firing a shot. They have a realistic hole in the barrel. Details are rather exact. They have a removeable metal clip. they sell for $18 in cheaper than dirt. They shoot a 22 cal, (6mm) soft ball. Everyone who plays with them knows they are not real because they have that orange tip. Any gun with a orange tip would temporarily confuse a person used to practicing with such, or seeing them around. An orange tip would certainly not make your target fire quicker, and it could cause a delay, hence it is a positive advantage. Don't know of any laws regarding painting a firearm, unless you obscure its ID markings. I'd use a orange tip if I planned to confront domestic enemies. It would have an advantage for a little while. |

.22 cal is 5.5mm, not 6mm, they fire 6mm, not 5.5mm |
