Here's a site http://www.grrtech.com/sabot/006.htm I found that sells saboted flechette loads for shotguns and 37mm launchers. Since these aren't finished ammo rounds, there aren't any sales restrictions (age or ID). You can buy 37mm launchers (again, no restrictions) through the mail or internet for about $100. They have ones like break open shotguns ($100) or that attach like grenade launchers underneath a rifle (~$250). The hulls cost about $1 each and you load the powder and primers yourself. The 12 guage rounds (you have to load them yourself) cost about $2 each ($1.50 by the hundred), the 37mm $20 each ($80 for 5). But just imagine the havoc just 1 blast from one of the 37mm rounds would wreak on a crowd. Holy Shit! There's a hundred of the darts in just one round and they have a range of 300 meters. Just look at the picture of this thing. Would you want to be downrange from this? Those columbine fools could have caused a total slaughter with these things. ------------------ |

Just a little note on the picture. It is not actually that size, and neither are the darts. They are magnified about *2 the true size of those darts aare about half that size, and hence all assumptions about what they could do must be re-evaluated. |

I read some where once (probally in a cook book) that you can make your own rounds like that. what you do is get a pipe the same diameter as your barrel and cut it into like 2" sections, then get some plaster of paris, and some small nails. with a hammer flatten the heads of the nails, then mix up the plaster according to the directions and pour some into your pipe/mold and now add the nails. when the plaster is dry push it out of the mold. I guess you should grease up the mold first. |

Is it legal in Canada too? I can buy one of those and freak my friends out. |

Im supposing that the way it's supplied its as legal as a bag of nails, dont trust me on this one though. Flechettes are so nasty that they rip right through conventional body armour(unless you plan on wearing a steel plate). Then they like o fragment inside the body making iddy biddy splinters of metal jammed in your organs, its for this reason they are banned internationaly. |

I cut the heads off a handful of nails and loaded them into my 1/2" barrel on my pnumatic rifle at 110 psi. I shot it at a wooden wall and it did quite a lot of damage. It riped up the wood very badly although only 2 nails actually stuck into the wood and remained. I was impressed. ------------------ |

Here's a URL for a 37mm launcher http://www.mbmammo.com/thumper.html . I saw this one reviewed in SWAT magazine. It was well rated. Belows are some pictures. It costs about $250 all totaled. And the ammo could be used as is for urban combat. ------------------ |

Firequest also sells 37 mm grenade launchers, the ones with folding stocks and break actions are about $200 US. |

Too bad the commercially available ammo is so expensive. But then again thats a good thing since when you load your own, you can make completely customized rounds. |

Customize eh? What can possibly be more sinister than shooting nails at enemy? Hmmmm.... |

Or maybe barbed nails with drugs on it, heheh |

barbed?!!! that would be some nasty shit. for killing purposes it would be better to have the shrapnel stick into and not actually pass through. damn that is a good idea. ------------------ |

nbk2000 Thanks for that link. To avoid the high price of preloaded flechette rounds i have been looking for suppliers of loading components. If you come across any other suppliers please post them. I like that this company offers the flechettes in bulk, however they DON'T offer the wads in bulk. I'm not sure if your knowledgeable on their loading or not, or if you posted this for people to look into. I'm curious if other wads can be substituted safely, such as a standard WAA wad, and also if some other hulls can be used. I frequently shoot sporting clays, and reload for each session. So therefore i have a large supply of Winchester AA, and Remington Primier Hulls. The page had only a limited amount of loading data. If you know of any other combinations.. please let me know. |

Here's a place that sells bulk flechettes. http://www.imsplus.com/ims35. $25/lb. Another place that sells them for $4.95/lb is RPB Industries, P.O. Box 367, Avondale Est., GA, 30002. (404)297-0907. (800)858-0809 orders only. M-F 10am-6pm. They also sell the 37mm launchers as low as $190. They have a 6 shot 37mm gun for $1,300. Plus a shitload of accessories for the M11/9mm. ------------------ "The knowledge that they fear is a weapon to be used against them." www.50megs.com/nbk2000 [This message has been edited by nbk2000 (edited January 14, 2000).] [This message has been edited by nbk2000 (edited January 14, 2000).] |

Apparently, when you edit a post, it doesn't show up as a new post in the section index. By this I mean that I edited the above post on the 14th, but it showed on the listings as the 12th (when it was originally posted). ------------------ |
