I was reading the fish hook booby trap and this one sprang to mind. The viet cong used to use it during the vietnam war. Take a bamboo shoot (or any sharp object like a nail) and stick it in the ground (sharp point up!!)so it is firmly cemented there, and when steped on will puncture the foot. Place lots of these little things around any area and send some unknowing fool trouncing on through. The viet cong spread animal feces on the shoots to cause infection. ------------------ |

Well if your victim is wearing boots or shoes the spikes may not penetrate. what about improving the design a little, and insted of just using nails, have some rifle bullets with tacks taped to the primers, so when he steps on them it will just blast the fuck out of him. Or you could have a trip wire right before this patch of nails/bullets so that they fall into it, so they body would hit the spikes rather than just their feet. ------------------ |

Yes a bed of nails would be good but the rifle bullets sound like a much better idea. On the subject of trip wires and bullets you could also make another nasty trap. What you need to do is set up a trip wire behind like a door or something. the trip wire is attached to a pin which holds down a spring. Attached to the spring is a nail (or a tack, whichever you think would do a better job of firing a shotgun shell.)When the trip wire is pulled by the opening of the door the pin is pulled away from the spring and the spring pushes the tack onto the shell causing it to fire. Now if you point the shell at the door the person gets hit. ------------------ |

The bamboo shoot idea is perfect for an "in the field" setting where you don't have bullets. Didn't they used to dig a small but deep hole in the ground with spikes at the bottom covered with sod? Even with boots on, once you step on the sod and fall through a foot or two, you can pierce the sole. The feces is a nice touch. ------------------ |

Ah, good old punji sticks. If you want some more suggestions, check out http://www.off-road.com/vw/enviro/efdm.html The work itself is probably just a bad attempt to smear the enviromental movement, but the traps they suggest look workable. |

That is the same idea as the fox tail plant as well as broad head arrow points. But what material would you use for the things. It would have to be flexiable enough for the foot to enter but then rigid to trap them. Maybe sheet metal hinged to the side of the box. ------------------ |

Steel packing strap may be usable. Sharpen the edges to razor sharpness and nail it across paths edgewise at shin level. ------------------ |

another idea would be to place the nailbed on a small road in the forest and set up a tripwire at each side, so that when victem comes by he will not step on them but fall on them. The nails could be covered with oxalic acid - hurts like hell and lethal dose is 10 grams. At last if you haven`t got any nails you Rolf |

a shotshell without a barrel would be lucky to penetrate the skin, either add a short barrel or replace the powder with HE. |
