alright check it.... you ppls are asking for .22 caliber smg's... probably simply for plinking and shit like that... but this will have barely any stopping power... so why not make one that is .45 (the most lethal handgun round (to my knowlege)) or even a SMG that uses a rifle round such as a .308 or .223 .... so think about this.. and if there seems to be enough support i may design one... |

yhe most lethal rounds are either .454 casull, .44 mag., .50 ap, or the .440 cor~bon. and try to design a 7.62x39 caliber. the cheapest rifle ammo you can get aside of 7.62x54R. but the 7.62x54R is way too powerful. the 7.62x39 is the SKS and AK-47 ammo. if not .223 will do. ------------------ |

If you are going to take the time to do all the work it takes to make a smg then just by a Marlen 22. it's a strange pistol like weapon, it can be easly converted to full automatic. check this sight.

There are more considerations than stopping power in the selection of a caliber, as dlwdaw pointed out in the cost comparison. Also the amount of recoil, durability of the machine, cost of production, and "overkill factor" come into play. The use of a .22 short allows for a short ejection port and higher rate of fire for a given bolt speed. Jamming is also a substantial problem with any automatic weapon. The 7.62 are very reliable and have nearly no jamming problems in comparison with large caliber "arm cannon" rounds. I would hope that anyone attempting to have a gun manufactured has access to their own machinery, as machinist's fees are astronomical for intricate, multiple setup components. Bob's Rent A Cow |
