Does anyone have any information about the use of dry ice bullets? They would be the perfect bullet for use in a homicide, a few minutes after you shot the victim the bullet would turn into a common gas, leaving no reside. The only downside would be since it is so cold it might leave a burn on the victims skin. Normal ice would work also but it turns into a water, which would be suspicius. Dry ice floats into the air, with no trace. Anyone know if this is possible or how to do it?. I have experminted with normal ice bullets and I have found that on impact insted of pentetrating hard objects (like a wood board) they just pancake on impact causing very little or no damage. ------------------ |

I do not have a response to your bullet question but ice can be used as a VERY effective stabbing weapon. And it leaves no evidence when it is all over. ------------------ |

From "Kill without Joy" by John Minnery: p. 149 The use of ice bulltes as projectiles to thwart forensic examination can only be considered with the large bore shotguns. The cartridges have their shot and some wadding removed - wax or shellac is dripped in as waterproofing and then water or blood plasma is added and then the shotshell is deep frozen. The shells can be kept in a portable cooler or packed in ice and sawdust until just prior to loading and firing. Ice being very brittle may be strengthened by adding hair, wool or natural fiber. For extreme toughness paper pulp should be homogenized with the water and then frozen. Rock salt is lethal at point blank ranges and the crystals dissolve and flow away with the blood as a saline solution. -end quote >Normal ice would work also but it turns into water, which would be suspicious. You mean some water in a pool of blood would be suspicious? The big hole in the body will be a lot more suspicious. |

Adding hair and fibers to the ice is a very good idea for adding strength but it is also bad because it leaves fiber evidence, if any of these fibers are found on you or in your home that would be strong physical evidence agaist you. Leaving any trace is bad. I know a hole in someones head is suspicious but I meant if they found excess water they may think that it was from an ice bullet possibly, but if you used dry ice which sublimes completly there would be no trace at all, with the possible except of frost bite burns because of its exetreme cold. If they found a hole in someone head, they probably wouldnt think it was from a dry ice bullet, they would assume they were stabbed with a spike and the killer took it with him. What if you made some ice bullets exactly the shape of a knife, and shot your victim from 300 yards away 20 times, after a few minutes the ice will have melted/sublimed and it will look like to the homicide investagor that the victim was stabbed to death with a knife. I recomend dry ice over normal ice for two reasons 1) it sublimes leaving no trace 2) It has a much higher dentisty that ice, making it stronger ------------------ |

How exactly would you put dry ice in a shell and not have it dissapte? The ice is just frozen and that does not "unfreeze" at the rate in which dry ice dissapates. This is the problem i forsee. ------------------ |

Lets say you are a little bullet of encapsulated dry ice happy in your freezer at a balmy -78.5 °C. Next thing you know some fool has got you stuck in a 35 ° body. Its hot, you want to melt -no- explode cause your trapped by a shell! Poof, ahh now your free, no shell could hold all that gas. If you use a soluable shell, it will be gone eventually. ------------------ |

I wasnt planning on using a 'shell' to fire the bullet. I would use a pnumatic rifle, like a pnumatic potato gun fitted with a 1 1/2" barrel. Dry ice sublimes at about 2 pounds per 24 hours, that is in an insulated container in a large amount. If you had a small piece inside a warm body im sure it would be gone in a matter of minutes. The bullet would be kept in a mini-cooler in a zip lock bag, with lots of other dry ice around it to keep it frozen, it would be muzzle loaded into the rifle and fired several seconds later. ------------------ |

Ff, a note about you saying the fibres would leave evidence. Yes, the fibres would leave evidence, but if you refer to your method about planting evidence from the pipebombs on your site, take some tweezers and go to a local toiler to get some hairs and fibre and use those instead.. This would throw the authorities from tracing you directly |

Damn pred that isa good idea. I think that would come in handy in all situations where cops would be looking for evidence like that. ------------------ |

If you put some hair from a toliet into an ice bullet, the forensic investagator will think you shot a gun in someones head and then fucked it. hahahaha. i agree, it is a good idea. thanx for the tip ------------------ |

Another problem. Did you already work with dry ice? I find it very hard to shape. And I suppose that normal dry ice has a low density, so it`s unsuitable for use as a bullet. |

To shape dry ice.. buy a large block of it, not the pellets. Then using a hot wire you can easy cut the block into any shape you want. and Ive heard that dry ice has a higher dentisy that h20 ice. hope this was helpful |
