I asked a cop about the laws of carring a hand gun in a truck recently and he told me it was legal to carry a hand gun if it was in a locked box other than your glove box that was out of your reach from the drivers seat if you were on your way to a hunt or the range(this is in California, USA). I thought up a device that follows all those laws but yet gives you faster access that if you kept it under your seat. What if you made a wooden box that contained a silding drawer that was spring loaded and kept shut with a cyclinical lock. Then mounted this box under the passsenger seat and drove around with the key in the lock. Rig it so that as soon as you turn the key, the drawer flies open thus putting the gun within easy reach of your right hand. I am thinking it is legal becuase as it is being stored it is out of reach, but once you turn the key it springs within reach. All you would have to do is tell the cop that you are on the way to the shooting range. Would this actually be legal? ------------------ Feticidal Fantasy- http://www.darksites.com/souls/vampires/feticidal/ "Keep your gun as your constant companion."

your design is simlar to a Gun Vault, a shp bought gun sfe which you can access very quickly. Why not just buy one of these? What happens if the spring system of your homemade vault fucks up?? You could be dead.

To make this even faster, you could use an electric lock and have a switch mounted on your steering wheel next to the horn. So all you do is flip the switch and a gun is sprung right next to your hand. Quicker than picking up a gun off the floor. Yet I belive my idea is totaly legal. Legal excuses why you are carrying a gun would be; taking it to the range, going hunting, taking it to a repair shop, or bringing it to your friends house because he is considering purchasing it.------------------ Feticidal Fantasy- http://www.darksites.com/souls/vampires/feticidal/ "Keep your gun as your constant companion."

Darcey, You would just have to test it at home to make sure it works perfectly before you carry it in your car. I wouldn't buy that because it is probably expensive and may not fit under a car seat. ------------------ Feticidal Fantasy- http://www.darksites.com/souls/vampires/feticidal/ "Keep your gun as your constant companion."
