I know that virtual ave has an incessiantly annoying amount of pop ups. And anybody that surfs warez or porn sites knows they will get hurded unwillingly by evil code. Early in the summer I tried out several of the so called filtering agents that stop pop-ups, ads, redirects, cookies, java scripts, and other loathsem tricks those foolish sites use. None of them ever worked right, and not all had took care of all that stuff in the same way. Now I have found InterMute. Yes I sound like an ad, but this one really works. According to the statistics of the day that it keeps, I have stopped 104 ad banners and 62 popups (52 of which are from this forum alone!). I really hate pop-ups, now they are gone. One nice thing about it, it configures itself to work with your browser. These filtering agents need to use a proxy setting, all the others make you do it manually, InterMute just does it. You can set it to weed out pop-ups, ads, animated images, background pics and music, autorefreshes (redirects), jave, cookies, and referals. Only one other program I tried did ALL of these, but it didn't work at all. All I get rid of are pop-ups and ads, but thats my preference. You can even configure it to filter out content for individual web sites, so you could keep the cookie for The Forum (which automatically put your username and password in) or another favorite site, but eat all the rest. The down side? Its not exactly free... It comes with a 14 day trial, fully functional and freely downloadable. I have been hoping to find, um, a, um, well, a serial number to slightly, um, extend the trial period until I am sure I want to buy it, which, may be, um ,heh, never. Ahh, anyway, if anybody knows of a working, eh, serial or crack... they can provide a link here... There are serialz available for older versions, and I did find a non-working link for a keygen It is InterMute v 1.4 and it can be downloaded at http://www.intermute.com/file/iM-setup.exe What will I do when my trial runs out, I have gotten so used to it already? ------------------ |

Excellent work there Mega. Got it installed and the code Survivor posted works. But exactly how do you configure it to stop the forum pop-up? ------------------ |

Excellent work there people, I wasn't even expecting results so soon I have astalavista at the top of my link list (not just because its in alphabetical order) I had been checking it all this week, but the verson 1.4 was just too new, even for there. Its too bad the hackers are always one step behind the current version, but if you wait long enough... I'll tell, I didn't want to have to see those pop-ups again ![]() ------------------ |

Another excellent site for cracks and serialz is http://www.hack.zone.to/cracki.shtml . It's in polish or something foriegn but you can understand it easily enough and it's huge. And Poison, I do have the ads and pop-ups checked in the filters and the virtualave ad still pops up. Mega, what did you do in your settings to kill the ad? Thanks. ------------------ |

Speaking of Eastern European crack we pages here is a Russian page in English. http://flowers.pp.ru/rcz/index.html They have an impressive list with hundreds of cracks added every month. The site may be slow though seeing how the server is in Russia. |

NBK, all I did to configure InterMute was click the no pop-ups and ads. Do you have it configured as a proxy and is the filtering ON (in the task bar)? He he, 96 pop-ups blasted to hell thus far today. ------------------ |

I had to manually change the proxy settings in my browser to get it to work right (IE5). Now everything is honky-dory. ------------------ |
